NEUMAS

In the Neumas series (neumes) I graphically transpose musical scores in order to show its repetitive nature and structure. The neumes (breath) are musical symbols, graphic representations of sounds and inflections, used in the medieval musical notation.
I transcribe the musical notes using black and white colors according to the black and white piano keys. I remove the pitch determined by the stave and the rhythmic information. By doing this, I reveal the relative melodic relationship between notes, the shape created by the melodic profile.
