NUMBERS

I count 1,2,3,4,5… and write those numbers. I am interested in the relation between a manufactured, objective, mechanical time and a subjective experience of this time. The viewer’s time experience also comes into play: turning the pages of a book, walking a physical distance, listening to a sound recording…
In the work Untitled (60 ‘, 14/06/2004 – 20/06/ 2004), I counted aloud at the same time I wrote those numbers in a notebook for one hour. I repeated that action over a week. Each day has its notebook and audio recording. The objective time (one hour) is reflected in different subjective times: each book and the consequent sound recording reach a different number.
