The Cahiers series represents a natural evolution from my earlier Études. While the Études focused on exploring the repetition of a circular gesture-almost like acting as a human metronome-the Cahiers build on those ideas, allowing me to delve deeper into how layered compositions and translucent materials can evoke a sense of suspended time and shifting rhythms.
With Cahiers, I’m able to push these concepts further by working with archival polyester film. This material allows each layer to float and interact with light in new ways, enhancing the sensation of moments held in space. The sculptural qualities and the influence of gravity become even more pronounced, making the passage of time and subtle changes within each work more visible.
Ultimately, the Cahiers continue the investigation I began with the Études, but with a greater emphasis on transparency, layering, and the delicate relationships between elements-inviting viewers to experience the ongoing dialogue between presence and absence, repetition and variation.
